According to research conducted by Dr Ali FM from Ain Shams University in Egypt, propolis is effective in treating infertility associated with mild endometriosis. In a small randomized trial, the scientists found that the use of bee propolis is an effective way for treatment of infertility and no reported side effects of its use.
Study
The study results presented at the 59th annual meeting of the American Society of Reproductive Medicine in San Antonio, Texas (October 13, 2003), researchers studied 40 female patients for more than two years. The patient was using propolis 500 mg twice daily and the other a placebo for more than half a year.
study results showed that among those who use propolis, 60% became pregnant compared with 20% in those taking placebo. This research is still considered a small trial but is a promising start for the medical community to do more research on the ability of propolis in treating infertility.
