Reduce Heart Attack and Stroke with Diet

Study in Chicago found that the recommended diet for lowering blood pressure can reduce the risk of heart attack and stroke. This study was followed by 88 000 healthy women aged nearly 25 years. The researchers examined the food choices of women and see how much suffering a heart attack and stroke. Those who have the outcome (result) is good are the women who followed the diet recommended by the government to reduce high blood pressure. The diet plan called DASH (Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension) includes fresh fruits, vegetables, whole grains, low-calorie milk, and vegetables that contain lots of protein than meat.

Women with diet is about 24% lower risk of heart attack mangalami and 18% less likely to suffer a stroke than other women. Any 2 of 5 women aged 50 years in the United States has the potential to have heart and blood vessels, including heart attack and stroke. Previous research shows that diet can help children prevent high blood pressure and cholesterol, both of which can cause heart attacks.

This latest research was published in Monday's Archives of Internal Medicine. Approximately 15 000 women in the study followed the diet can lower blood pressure. They eat two times a serving of fruit, vegetables, and wheat as compared with 18 000 other women who followed the diet of ordinary American women. Although this study only learn about women, Fung said that he could gain the same advantage with this approach. The study was limited because only a woman can follow the diet for 24 years. Due to the limitations, Dr. Laura Svetkey, director of the Hypertension Center at Duke University said the study provides good results with long term originating diet high blood pressure reduction.
